JULIUS BALTAZAR, pen name of Hervé Lambion, is a French painter, engraver and illustrator born July 13, 1949 in Paris. He lives and works in Paris and Corsica.
A precocious artist, he exhibited from the age of 16. In 1967, he met Salvador Dali who baptized him "Julius Baltazar". The latter introduced him to Fernando Arrabal with whom he founded the Intra-Realist Movement. He stays with the two artists in Cadaquès in Spain. Subsequently, he worked as an apprentice with the Parisian jeweler Arthus Bertrand, stayed in Canada and in the Scandinavian countries, among others, according to his meetings.
The artist’s works are presented in major public collections in Canada, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan and France. Since his first exhibition in 1965, the works of Julius Baltazar have never ceased to attract galleries and museums around the world. Among many exhibitions, we can mention the one organized in 1999 by the Martin-von-Museum in Würzburg, which highlights the large-format works of the artist. In 2008, he took part in the “Paris painting” exhibition organized by the French Embassy and the French Institute in Athens at the Théocharakis Foundation. The artist has also illustrated more than three hundred works of poetry which have given rise to important retrospectives. In 2007, the Médiathèque d'Issy-les-Moulineaux devoted a retrospective exhibition to him and exhibited his artist's books, paintings and engravings, as did the Louis Nucera Library in Nice.
Distinctions: 2010: Knight of the Order of the Blue Palhinte, Kingdom of Hu-Tu-Fu, 2006: Jean Cortot presents him with the insignia of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
